Way back in 1981 Graham and Michele were both avid Beatles fans an ocean apart. Graham, living on the Isle of Wight, placed an advertisement in a magazine called "Beatles Monthly" looking for a pen friend from the USA.

A year later, two American girls named Michele and Gloria were reading all the ads looking for new pen pals. Michele decided to write to Graham hoping he still wanted new pen friends a year later. He did.

But 10 years and several overseas trips passed and still Michele and Graham had never met in person. Finally, in 1992, after a long 6 years of no overseas travel, Michele planned another trip to the UK and made arrangements to meet up with Graham who was now living in Wales.

The met for 24 hours in August 1992. Sparks flew for Michele right away, but Graham was a slow starter. The story has a happy ending. On Valentines day 1995 Graham flew to the USA and surprised Michele with a visit and a proposal.

Graham relocated to the USA they were married in July 1995.
