Ireland
Below are links lists of things we are hoping to squeeze into our 7 day trip with links where I have them. When we return, I will come back and update the items we managed to see to let you know what we liked and didn't like.

Alert: We were recently notified by the Dingle Tourist board that a recent change in the law affecting gaeltract areas of Ireland (Irish speaking areas) has dictated the removal of the bi-lingual road signs leaving just Irish on the signs. As quaint as this is, with most of my maps and guide books listing just the English name, this could be a problem. My solution is two-fold - I am working on a cheat sheet to take with me of the Irish names for the places in Kerry and Clare but I am also trying to learn a little Irish. I found a great website where you can download for free (lite) version software called "Before you Knew it" that teaches you a foreign language. Irish is one of the languages you can down load.

It is great - I can already say:

  • Hello (dia dhuit)
  • yes (sea)
  • Ni hea (no)
  • Is Mise... (My name is...)
  • Bialann (restaurant)
  • Led' thoil (please
