On
a beautiful Sunday in September we decided on a whim to visit Gaithersburg's
historic district where they were having a Festival.
We got a late start so we weren't able to stay too long, but we had
a great time as you can see from the photos below. We didn't get
to sample any of the food on offer because we were there after
lunch and we had dinner plans.
The historic train depot is now a restaurant.
There is a very small train museum in the old station.
This old steam engine is on display behind the depot.
This college gymnasts performed some astounding feats that involved
lots of trust.
To get to Gaithersburg we had to take a chain ferry across the Potomac
River and these people were enjoying the river as we crossed.
